Easy One-Piece Velvet Plushie Crochet Pattern

Materials

  • Plush yarn: Himalaya VELVET (100 g / 120 m) in any color of your choice.
  • Cotton yarn: Yarn Art Jeans (50 g / 160 m) for the nose.
  • Textured yarn: Alize SOFTY (50 g / 115 m) in white for the muzzle.
  • Safety Eyes: 6-8 mm (sewn-on or insertable).
  • Toy stuffing: Fiberfill or polyfill.
  • Crochet hook: 3 mm.
  • Tools: Tapestry needle, scissors, stitch marker, and pins.

Abbreviations (US Terms)

Legs and Body

The toy is crocheted in one continuous piece from the legs up to the head. Stuff the piece firmly as you go.

Legs (Make 2)

R1: 8 sc in MR (8)

R2 – R3: 8 sc (8) — 2 rounds total.

For the first leg: Cut the yarn and fasten off. For the second leg: Do not cut the yarn. Continue to the body section.

Crocheting the legs and body

Body

Joining Row: From the second leg, ch 2. Attach to the first leg with a sc. Crochet 8 sc around the first leg, 2 sc along one side of the chain, 8 sc around the second leg, and 2 sc along the other side of the chain (20 sc total).

R1 – R6: 20 sc (20) — 6 rounds total.

R7: (2 sc, dec) x 5 (15)

Head

Continue crocheting directly from the body.

R10: 10 inc (20)

R11: (3 sc, inc) x 5 (25)

R12 – R16: 25 sc (25) — 5 rounds total.

Eye Placement: If using safety eyes, insert them between R14 and R15, spaced about 4-5 stitches apart. If using sew-on eyes, wait until the head is finished.

Shaping the head

R17: (3 sc, dec) x 5 (20)

R18: (2 sc, dec) x 5 (15)

R19: (1 sc, dec) x 5 (10)

Cut the yarn, pull the opening tight to close, and hide the tail inside the head.


Arms (Make 2)

R1: 6 sc in MR (6)

R2 – R7: 6 sc (6) — 6 rounds total.

Fold the top of the arm flat and crochet 3 sc through both layers to close. Leave a long tail for sewing. Sew the arms to the body at R9, roughly 4-5 stitches apart.

Muzzle and Ears

Muzzle (Use White Alize Softy)

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing. Lightly stuff and sew to the face between the eyes. Use the cotton yarn to embroider a small nose.
