Baby Amigurumi Animals in Crochet Shorts

We offer a free pattern by Natalia Koshkarova to crochet four adorable amigurumi toys: a puppy, a kitten, a bear cub, and a piglet. The head, muzzle, body, arms, and legs follow the same pattern, with differences only in the ears and tails. The legs are flexible, allowing the animals to sit with support. The pattern also includes instructions for crocheting removable shorts. Using the specified materials, the finished toys are approximately 18 cm tall.

   Stuff until row 4. Fold in half and crochet 4 sc through both layers. Leave a long tail for sewing. Sew between rows 7 and 8.

Piglet Tail
Attach yarn between rows 7 and 8 of the body, chain 13, sl st into the second chain from the hook, sl st across. Fasten off and hide the end.

Crochet Shorts with Straps

1. Chain 42 + 1 ch for turning, join with 1 sl st.
   At the beginning of each row, ch 1; at the end, sl st to join.
   2-4. 42 hdc (3 rows)
2. Create a tail hole: 8 sc, 6 ch, skip 6 stitches, 28 sc (42)
   6-9. 42 hdc (4 rows)

Legs:
Find the center and continue with one leg (your stitch count may vary).

1. 13 hdc, join with the opposite side, 6 hdc (19)
   2-5. 19 hdc (4 rows)
   Fasten off. Repeat for the second leg.

To close the gap between legs, turn the shorts inside out and sl st 3 stitches together or sew shut.

Straps:
Attach a new thread and chain 26 + 5 ch for the buttonhole.
Starting from the 6th ch from the hook, crochet 26 sc.
Make two straps and sew them at the back in a crisscross pattern. Sew on buttons. Optionally, roll up the shorts’ legs.
