Crochet the Miniature Socks

We’ll start with the main body of the sock using red yarn, then add the heel with white, and finish off with a white cuff.

Sock Body (Red Yarn)

Using Red yarn:

  1. Round 1: Make 7 single crochets (sc) into a Magic Ring (MR). (7 stitches)
  2. Round 2: Increase (inc) in each stitch around. (14 stitches)
  3. Rounds 3-5: Single crochet (sc) in each stitch around for 3 rounds. (14 stitches per round)

Do not cut the red yarn! Leave it attached; we will come back to it. Now, we’ll work on the heel.

Heel (White Yarn)

Switch to White yarn:

  1. Work 8 single crochets (sc) into 8 stitches of the previous red round (R5). This will form the base of your heel. (8 stitches)
  2. Rows 2-4: Chain 1 (ch1) at the beginning of each row (this chain does NOT count as a stitch). Then, sc in each of the 8 stitches across. Repeat for 3 rows. (8 stitches per row)

Cut a long tail of white yarn for sewing. Fold the heel piece in half and sew the edges together to form the heel using your tapestry needle. Secure and hide any remaining yarn tails.

Continue Sock Body & Cuff

Now, pick up your Red yarn again where you left it:

  1. Round 6: Single crochet (sc) 8 stitches along the edge of the heel you just made, then sc 6 stitches along the remaining part of the red sock opening. (14 stitches)
  2. Rounds 7-9: Single crochet (sc) in each stitch around for 3 rounds. (14 stitches per round)
  3. Adjustment: Continue to sc 4 more stitches (slip stitch to join if needed, or simply continue to the middle) until you reach the middle back of the heel. This will reposition your starting point for the next round.

Change to White yarn:

  1. Round 10 (Cuff): Single crochet (sc) in each stitch around. (14 stitches)

Cut the white yarn, fasten off, and weave in all remaining ends securely.

Crochet the Miniature Mittens

Let’s make a tiny matching mitten! We’ll start by making the thumb, then the main body, and attach the thumb as we go.

Thumb (Red Yarn)

Using Red yarn:

  1. Round 1: Make 6 single crochets (sc) into a Magic Ring (MR). (6 stitches)
  2. Rounds 2-3: Single crochet (sc) in each stitch around for 2 rounds. (6 stitches per round)

Cut the yarn, fasten off, and secure the end. You don’t need a long tail for sewing here, as it will be joined into the mitten later. Set aside.

Mitten Body (Red Yarn)

Using Red yarn:

  1. Round 1: Make 7 single crochets (sc) into a Magic Ring (MR). (7 stitches)
  2. Round 2: Increase (inc) in each stitch around. (14 stitches)
  3. Round 3: *(6 sc, 1 inc) repeat twice*. (16 stitches)
  4. Rounds 4-5: Single crochet (sc) in each stitch around for 2 rounds. (16 stitches per round)

Attach Thumb & Shape Mitten (Red Yarn)

  1. Round 6: Single crochet (sc) in the first 8 stitches of the mitten body. Then, pick up your crocheted thumb and single crochet (sc) 6 stitches along the base of the thumb, joining it to the mitten body. Continue with 8 sc on the remaining mitten body stitches. (22 stitches total around the mitten and thumb opening)
  2. Round 7: Single crochet (sc) in the first 8 stitches. Then, make 3 single crochet decreases (dec) over the thumb section. Finish with 8 sc on the other side of the mitten body. (19 stitches)
  3. Round 8: Single crochet (sc) in the first 7 stitches. Make 1 decrease (dec). Single crochet (sc) in the next stitch. Make 1 decrease (dec). Finish with 7 sc. (17 stitches)
  4. Round 9: Single crochet (sc) in the first 8 stitches. Make 1 decrease (dec). Finish with 7 sc. (16 stitches)
  5. Round 10: Single crochet (sc) in each stitch around. (16 stitches)

Mitten Cuff (White Yarn)
