Finished Size

About 34 x 36 in. (86.5 x 91.5 cm)

Materials

  • LION BRAND BUNDLE OF LOVE (Art. 149) in Oasis, 4 balls
  • LION BRAND crochet hook size N-13 (9 mm)
  • LION BRAND large-eyed blunt needle

Materials Note

The Afghan was photographed with optional pom-poms. The yarn amount is sufficient to make pom-poms, but we strongly suggest that if this Afghan is meant for a baby or child, you do not add pom-poms, as these are a choking hazard.

Gauge

9 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) over pattern in Rows 5-16, with 2 strands of yarn held together.

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

Stitch Explanation

Spike-st (spike stitch)

Insert hook in next st in indicated row below and draw up a loop to height of current row, yarn over and draw through both loops on hook. Skip the st in the current row that is covered by the spike st. Note: A st “4 rows below” is in the row numbered 4 less than the row you are currently making. For example, when working Row 5, a st “4 rows below” is in Row 5 – 4 = Row 1.

Notes

  1. Afghan is worked in one piece, back and forth in rows and with 2 strands of yarn held together.
  2. A single crochet border is worked all the way around outside edge of Afghan.
