Instructions
Begin with the “milk color” yarn (one of your Alize Velluto yarns):
1. Round 1: 9 SC in MR (9 stitches)
2. Round 2: 9 INC (18 stitches)
3. Round 3: 18 SC (18 stitches)
4. Round 4: 11 SC, change yarn to black, 2 DC with common top, SC, 2 DC with common top, change yarn back to milk color, 4 SC (18 stitches)
At this point, you will pause working on the body to create the ears and insert the facial features.
Creating the Ears
Insert the black thread from above, between Rows 1 and 2 of your main body piece.
Work 2 CH, then 1 Half Double Crochet (HDC) into the same stitch.
SL ST one row below to secure.
Immediately pull the thread tails to the wrong side of your work, tie them together securely, and trim any excess.
Repeat the same ear creation process on the opposite side of your pug’s head.
Inserting Facial Features
Insert the safety nose into a single crochet stitch between the “bumps” (the 2 DC with common top stitches from Round 4).
Insert the safety eyes on both sides of these “bumps” in the same row as the nose. Secure them firmly.
Now, continue crocheting the body with your milk color yarn:
5. Round 5: 18 SC (18 stitches)
6. Round 6: 9 SC, “paw” (2 DC with common top), 5 SC, “paw” (2 DC with common top), 2 SC (18 stitches)
7. Round 7: 18 SC (18 stitches)
8. Round 8: 9 SC, “paw” (2 DC with common top), 5 SC, “paw” (2 DC with common top), 2 SC (18 stitches)
9. Round 9: 9 DEC (9 stitches)
Stuff the pug firmly with polyester fiberfill.
Close the remaining opening using a tapestry needle, weaving through the front loops of the last 9 stitches and pulling tight to cinch shut. Weave in and hide any remaining yarn tails within the body of the pug.
