    • Contrast B Dapper Daphne (2004): 1 ball or 417 yds/381 m
  • Hook: Size U.S. I/9 (5.5 mm) Susan Bates® Silvalume® crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • Notions: Susan Bates® yarn needle.

Instructions

Motif 1 (Make 15)

Notes:

  • Motif 1 begins with Color 1 (shortest color repeat) from center of pull-skein.
  • Color 2 has medium length and Color 3 is the longest section of 3-color repeat.
  • At the end of 8th rnd fasten off Color 3 and save for tassels/fringe.
  • Always start new Motif 1 with Color 1.
  • Do not join at end of rnds. Work in continuous rnds.

With A, ch 4. Join to first ch with sl st to make a ring.

1st rnd: With A, ch 1. 1 sc. 1 hdc. 4 dc in ring. Pull up and drop long loop of A. Join B with sl st to ring. Ch 1. (1 sc. 1 hdc. 4 dc) in ring. Pull up and drop loop of B. 12 sts (6 sts of each color).

2nd rnd: Re-insert hook in A loop. With A, 2 dc in each of next 6 sts (B). Pull up and drop long loop of A. Re-insert hook in B loop. With B, 2 dc in each of next 6 sts (A). Pull up and drop long loop of B. 24 sts (12 sts of each color). PM for beg of rnd for each color.

3rd rnd: Re-insert hook in A loop. With A, (2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in next dc) 6 times (B). Pull up and drop long loop of A. Re-insert hook in B loop. With B, (2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in next dc) 6 times (A). Pull up and drop long loop of B. 36 sts (18 sts of each color). Move markers for beg of rnd for each color as work progresses.

4th rnd: Re-insert hook in A loop. With A, (2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each of next 2 dc) 6 times (B). Pull up and drop long loop of A. Re-insert hook in B loop. With B, (2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each of next 2 dc) 6 times (A). Pull up and drop long loop of B. 48 sts (24 sts of each color). Move markers.

5th rnd: Re-insert hook in A loop. With A, (2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each of next 3 dc) 6 times (B). Pull up and drop long loop of A. Re-insert hook in B loop. With B, (2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each of next 3 dc) 6 times (A). Pull up and drop long loop of B. 60 sts (30 sts of each color). Move markers.

6th rnd: Re-insert hook in A loop. With A, (2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each of next 4 dc) 6 times (B). Pull up and drop long loop of A. Re-insert hook in B loop. With B, (2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each of next 4 dc) 6 times (A). Pull up and drop long loop of B. 72 sts (36 sts of each color). Move markers.

7th rnd: Re-insert hook in A loop. With A, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc. (2 dc in next dc. 1 dc in each of next 6 dc) 4 times (B). Pull up and drop long loop of A. Re-insert hook in B loop. Finishing

Pin motif pieces to measurements. Cover with a damp cloth, leaving cloth to dry.

With MC, join Motifs together using Flat Slip Stitch (see instructions below).

Edging

With RS facing, join MC with sl st to any corner ch-2 sp.

1st rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as sl st. 1 sc in each st around blanket, working 1 sc in joining seam and (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 sc) in corner ch-2 sps, ending with 1 sc in first ch-2 sp. Ch 2. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Note: Use remaining length of A and B first.

2nd rnd: Join A or B with sl st to any corner ch-2 sp. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as sl st. 1 sc in each sc around blanket, working (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 sc) in corner ch-2 sps, ending with 1 sc in first ch-2 sp. Join with hdc to first sc.

3rd to 5th rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc around post of joining hdc. 1 sc in each sc around blanket, working (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 sc) in corner ch-2 sps, ending with 1 sc in first ch-2 sp. Join with hdc to first sc. Join MC. Fasten off A or B.

6th rnd: With MC, ch 1. 1 sc around post of joining hdc. Picot. *1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Picot. Rep from * around, working 3 sc in corner ch-2 sps, ending 2 sc around joining hdc. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Seaming with Flat Sl St Join

(RS). Work through back loops only and keep working yarn to WS of work to create a flat sl st chain detail on RS of work.

Note: Keep working yarn to WS of work so only flat sl st chain is visible on RS.
