How to Begin

Start the Blanket

  • Chain 16.
  • In the second chain from the hook, single crochet.
  • chain 2, single crochet for the corner. Chain 1, skip 1, and single crochet along the chain.

Turning the Corner

  • In the last chain, do a single crochet, 
  • chain 2, and another single crochet.
  • Turn around, chain 1, skip 1, and single crochet back across the other side.

Finishing the Round

  1. At the end, chain 1 and slip stitch into the first single crochet. 2. Slip stitch into the first chain 2 space to begin the next round.

Building the Blanket

Repeat:

  • At each corner, make a single crochet, chain 2, and single crochet.
  • Between corners, chain 1, skip 1, and single crochet in spaces.
  • Continue until almost using two yarn balls.

Adding the Edging

Crab Stitch (Reverse Single Crochet):

  • Chain 1, then work in the reverse direction. In each space, reverse single crochet and chain 1.
  • In corners, work two reverse single crochets.

Final Steps

  1. Slip stitch to join the last round. 2. Securely weave in all ends.
