Second Leg & Body

Follow the instructions for the First Leg (Rounds 1-6), but do not cut the yarn on the second leg.

Now, we will join the legs to form the body.

Round 7: With the yarn still attached to the second leg, sl st to the first leg to join. Work 10 sc around the first leg, then 10 sc around the second leg. (20)

Two legs joined to start the body

Rounds 8-11: Work 20 sc around for 4 rounds. (20)

Important Note on Alignment: Before starting the next round, check the alignment of your piece. You may need to make one offset sc to ensure the arms will be positioned correctly on the sides. This depends on your personal crochet tension. This offset stitch does not count as part of the next round’s stitch count.

Round 12: 5 sc, ch 3. Turn and work 3 sc along the back bumps of the chains. Continue on the body: 10 sc, ch 3. Turn and work 3 sc along the back bumps of the chains. Continue on the body: 5 sc. (32 total stitches: 20 on the body and 6 on each arm chain)

Round 13: 7 sc, 2 inc, 14 sc, 2 inc, 7 sc. (36)

Round 14: Work 36 sc around. (36)

Begin to stuff the legs and body firmly.

Round 15: 7 sc, 2 dec, 14 sc, 2 dec, 7 sc. (32)

Head

Note: You may need one more offset stitch here to center the head properly before beginning Round 16.

Round 16: 2 sc, skip the next 12 stitches (this forms the first armhole), 4 sc across the front, skip the next 12 stitches (this forms the second armhole), 2 sc across the back. This round creates the neck. (8)

Round 17: Work 8 inc. (16)

Round 18: [1 sc, inc] repeat 8 times. (24)

Rounds 19-22: Work 24 sc around for 4 rounds. (24)

Round 23: [1 sc, dec] repeat 8 times. (16)

Stuff the head firmly. Continue stuffing as you close the top.

Round 24: Work 8 dec. (8)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Use the tail to weave through the front loops of the final 8 stitches and pull tight to close the opening. Weave in the end securely.

Finishing & Assembly

1. Arms: Stuff the arms lightly. Using a yarn needle, sew the openings at the end of each arm closed.

2. Face & Details: Using embroidery thread, embroider a mouth and wavy “icing” details on the arms and legs.

3. Eyes: Sew or glue on safety eyes or beads. Alternatively, embroider the eyes with black thread.

4. Keychain: If desired, securely attach a keychain fastener to the top of the head.
