Fasten off securely and weave in all ends.

ROCKET SHIP

(Body – Start with main color, e.g., turquoise)

Row 1: Ch 6. Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in the remaining 4 chs. Ch 1, turn. (5 sc)

Row 2: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (5 sc)

Row 3: Sc decrease, sc in the next st, sc decrease. Ch 1, turn. (3 sc)

Row 4-5: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (3 sc)

Row 6: Sc decrease over the first 2 sts, sc in the last st. Ch 1, do not turn yet. (You should have 2 sts, effectively forming the point). Continue to sc evenly around the entire edge of the rocket shape to create a clean border. When you reach the tip/point again, join with a sl st to the first sc of the edging.

Change to Accent Color (e.g., Red) at the Tip: Before fastening off the main color, join the accent color at the very top point. Make 3 sc in the top point space with the accent color.

Fasten off both colors and weave in ends.

(Rocket Wings – Make 2, use accent color, e.g., Red)

Identify the bottom 3 stitches along one straight side edge of the rocket body. Join accent yarn with a sl st to the first of these 3 sts (closest to the bottom).

Ch 1, sc in the same st, hdc in the next st, 2 dc in the last st (the one closest to the corner/bottom).

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Repeat on the other side edge for the second wing.

(Rocket Fire – Use fire color, e.g., Yellow)

Find the center bottom stitch of the rocket body (between the wings). Join yarn with a sl st.

[Ch 3, sl st back into the same center stitch. Ch 5, sl st back into the same center stitch. Ch 3, sl st back into the same center stitch.]

Fasten off and weave in ends.

(Rocket Window – Use window color, e.g., White)

Start with a Magic Ring, ch 1, make 8 sc in the ring. Join with a sl st to the first sc.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Using the tapestry needle and the long tail, sew the window onto the center of the rocket body. Weave in the end securely.

Finishing Touches: Attaching Your Charms

  1. Make sure all your yarn ends are securely woven into the back of each crochet motif.
  2. Heat up your hot glue gun.
  3. Carefully apply a dab of hot glue to the flat back of your chosen plastic charm back or finding.
  4. Quickly and firmly press the glued back onto the center back of your crochet charm.
  5. Hold for a few seconds until the glue sets. Let it cool completely before popping it onto your bag or attaching it elsewhere!
